[Solved] Template fields moves in new slide
[Solved] Template fields moves in new slide
I created a template with a background, a title field and a body field.
When I create a new presentation from this template the first slide is good. But on the next slide, the title field has moved upwards. I'm lost on how to correct this.

It would be helpful if you uploaded your template, also screenshots showing the first and second slides. Remove or munge any sensitive information before uploading, of course.

Here is the template file, a screen shot from the template and a screen shot once the template is used in a presentation.

Re: Template fields moves in new slide
It seems there is a difference between your master slide and the first slide. If you click on a layout, then the field moves to the position set in the master slide.
I think that you've moved the field in that first page after having designed the master slide.
Move the field in the master slide and that should be fine.
Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the ✎ button if your issue has been fixed.

Re: Template fields moves in new slide
The template has the field where I want it.
Here's the steps I'm doing.
Create a new presentation from my template.
I add some header text.
I add some main body text.
All is good.
I create a new slide.
This is when the header text box moves up.
I looked at the "Position and Size" dialog.
From the first slide which is positioned correctly;
X .55
Y .64
Width 9.92
Height 1.16 (greyed out, read only?)
From the second slide which has the moved text box
X .55
Y .33
Width 9.92
Height 1.38 (greyed out, read only?)

Re: Template fields moves in new slide
It doesn't seem so. The field has to be correctly located in the master slide. Currently, if you select the first slide and click on a layout slide in the Sidebar, then your field will move to the position set in the master slide:
Change the location of the field in the master slide and then all your slides will be fine.
If you are lost, please tell what you don't manage to do.

"Currently, if you select the first slide and click on a layout slide in the Sidebar, then your field will move to the position set in the master slide: "
If I do this, the only thing that happens is that is the slide from the side bar that I clicked on is then display to the right.
Here is the first slide. You can see the upper text box as a light blue rectangle. Here is the second slide. You can see the light grey dashed rectangle of the changed text box. This shift happens to each additional slide I add.
I just opened the template and added a second slide to see what would happen. On the second slide the same move of the upper text box happens.

Re: [Solved] Template fields moves in new slide
And you can see that your field ha moved upward between the first and second slide.
So again, correct the position in the master slide to prevent that.

What is the master slide? Do you mean the template?

Re: [Solved] Template fields moves in new slide
I have found what causes this issue.
I create a new presentation using my template.
I add text to first slide.
Prior I would then right click in the slide bar and select the "New Slide" menu item.
The new slide would then have the top text box in the wrong position.
What fixes this issue is I now hover my mouse over the last slide until a dark balloon with three options appears. I then select the "Duplicate Slide" option.
This slide has all elements correctly positioned.
Thanks for your help.

Re: [Solved] Template fields moves in new slide

So you did not bother ask about that or check the help file?
Then you will be able to move the field to the correct position.
Once moved, click outside the text box and close the master view. Then see what happens when you create a new slide or click a layout when your former slides are selected.
This is a mere workaround that does not fix the root cause.
