[Solved] Create linked table of contents

Post by nehavilash »

Hi everyone, I also want to create a clickable Table of Contents in OpenOffice Writer. Is there a way to automate hyperlinking for a large number of paragraphs, or do I need to link each one manually?

The efficient way to make a linked ToC is to use a Heading paragraph style for the (short) paragraphs you want to list in the ToC. Did you use Heading paragraph style in your document?

Thanks for the tip. I haven't used the Heading paragraph style yet. I'll try that and see how it works.

In the construction screen for your ToC, you need to place cursor before the icons indicating the ToC structure, in the first white box, and click the hyperlink button; then you need to click cursor into the last white box, and again click Hyperink button. Doing this has made the entire ToC line hyperlinked. Remember: you must pick start and end locations!

One can shorten the active link are by using intermediate start and end locations, but I suggest leaving that until later, perhaps after experimentation in a small test file.
