Re: I don't know where to get help
EML files are most likely an archived email that preserves the original HTML formatting and headers. OpenOffice does not handle these files; see if Easy Ways to Open EML Files - wikiHow is of any help.

I hate this damn computer, I wish that I could sell it.
It won't do what I want it to, Only what I tell it.

It is also said (not checked by me) that such files will open in a plain text editor (and possibly in Writer?), but that one would have to wade through html code to find the core text.

Re: Open email (EML) document with OpenOffice
I have a portable .eml viewer that I've used occasionally over the years on computers elsewhere that are not my own. Can be got here: Portable EML Viewer. No need to install, just download, unpack and launch the EMLViewer.exe file.
P.S. If you have an email client on your system — Outlook, Thunderbird, Betterbird, etc. — then you could just use that to open the .eml file — should work just fine.
