Document Recovery Failed

I got a small window titled OpenOffice Document Recovery and the status is it failed. But the real problem is that I can't conjure up a new document. Every time I click on the icon to begin a new document the same small window pops up. I can't use OpenOffice anymore.

I've tried clicking on "Next" to see the Error Report Tool but I just get a blank page where it looks like a 'normal' page from which I can begin creating that new text I want to create. This isn't the way things are supposed to work.
