[Solved] Mail merge label is in unexpected position

Post by morganmusic »

Update - this issue is not yet solved. I think the problem occurs at the Adjust Layout stage (see screenshot) of the label mail merge process where one label generates into the 1st column, 2nd row on the sheet of labels which is formatted to three columns for Avery Address Label # 5160. The generated text document only displays this one label, in a larger than formatted size and placed in the wrong place on the label sheet. At the same time, OO automatically opens a 2nd text document where one label prints in this wrong spot per page instead of 30 labels on one page. Also, OO automatically opens an additional text document which is blank. Something goes wrong at these steps. Could support please review? See attached images. Thank you.

I'm using mail merge to create mailing labels where the addresses are parsed into columns and rows in Calc, with Writer to create the labels using the option within OO. This function worked perfectly last December. This year, the resulting Writer file does not parce out all the fields even though they are perfectly created in three columns within Writer. I'm following the on-line instructions in OO. I've attached the instructions I created for myself last year with greater detail than in OO which do not work this year. Has something changed in the software that is causing these functions to not work properly? I even created a separate Calc file that is unfiltered and merely lists the 7 fields in column headers with 43 rows of data. When I generate the file from File New Labels ..., the resulting document only prints two labels, one on one page and one on another page despite the page being formatted into three columns of 10 rows of labels per sheet (Avery 5160). Pls advise as to what I can try next. Thank you.

Hi,

Don't work in the Microsoft foreign format.
Use a document in ODT and all will be fine. :)

Mr Dandy's recommendation did not work. Now, when I go to File New Labels to start the process mail merge process, no "Table" appears for any of the listed databases, yet these databases do in fact have a table range defined within the OO-formatted documents.
Speaking of the listed databases, how do I clear that database list from databases (all of which are Calc spreadsheets) that I no longer need?
Please advise. Thank you.
