[Solved+Issue] Pointer of comments not from red mark

Hi,
I have done a search, and the discussion I found said SOLVED, but with reservations. However, it persists for me with version 4.1.13.

Is there a fix please?

Can you give a link to the discussion you read? And perhaps a screenshot and a little more detail on the exact problem you are talking about?

When I choose "Show comment", the line from the cell to the comment looks like it originates from the RH top corner of the cell below the one with the red dot. If the comment is positioned a large distance away from its mother and there are some other comments scattered around, it gets confusing.

In that topic Ozi Ian was unable to reproduce the problem after updating Windows and thus they considered their problem to be solved.

However, it persists for me with version 4.1.13.

This is a known, open issue. Do not be surprised if you sometimes have trouble with the comments feature. It is unlikely that this will ever be fixed in OpenOffice. You could try LibreOffice to see if the problem occurs there. I have marked this topic with the [Issue} tag.

I thought this issue would be related to a topic on Pointer of comments not from red mark based on the title of the issue and comments therein. My impression is that have been quite a few similar topics about comments in the past 15 years, none with good resolutions, though I did not review them in detail. Oohappyuser has not provided an attachment and procedures to demonstrate their problem, so we don't really know what is happening for them. However I suspect the same would be the case here: no good solution for OpenOffice, based on the open issue. Personally, I never use the comment feature having judged that it is unreliable and unlikely to be fixed. If your GIFs are intended to show a solution for Oohappyuser I don't understand them. I see that they marked the issue as solved yesterday.

No one has shared the file that demonstrates the problem, plus its description (either in this thread or in the linked one) does not necessarily correspond to Issue 117629. Hence my question to you. My GIFs were merely intended to emphasize the (perhaps prima facie) difference.

CmntOff.ods file opened in LiBo also experiences the "comment arrow pointing in the wrong direction" problem.
