[Solved] Text Centered across multiple cells

This is no longer correct. There is NO OPTION to select 'Center Across Selection'. It does not exist.

When cells are merged, the text is repeated for each cell merged ... I merge three cells and type 'Flour' in once and it appears THREE TIMES.

I don't think there is a Center Across Selection option. I think the other poster was referring to an Excel option.
If I select D1:F1 and click the Merge Cells icon on the formatting tool bar, I get what looks like one cell spanning that range. If I type text and press Enter, I get that text left aligned at the D1 position. Clicking the Align Center icon shifts the text to be centered around the midpoint of E1.
