Object not accessible... insufficient user rights

Post by DWWhittaker »

Today I opened a .ODT file I haven't accessed in over a year called "Resume-indeed.odt" located in a folder called "Resume/Jobs." I noticed at the top of the document it said "Read Only" which shouldn't be the case, I should have full Read/Write access. I checked all other .ODT files in this same folder and they all had the same problem.

I figured this issue was a permissions problem so I changed the permissions of the root folder "Resume/Jobs" to my Administrative user name and applied that change to all other files in this folder so I wouldn't have to change the permissions of every file in the folder, something I've done many times on my system with no problems. I then tried reopening the file "Resume-indeed.odt" and now it won't even open. Instead I get the following 2 messages:

1) "Access to .../Library/Application Support/OpenOffice/4/user/temp/svuiqq7v.tmp/svuwi32r.tmp was denied."
2) "Object not accessible. The object cannot be accessed due to insufficient user rights."

I double checked and the permissions for this folder (../Library/Application Support/OpenOffice/4/user/temp) and for all files in it are correct. Permissions for all files in "Resume/Jobs" folder are also correct. I saw another post about this same issue for Windows and someone replied with a fix that had to do with locked files? I searched and couldn't find any locked files. Is that the same problem I'm having and if so, where do I find these locked files?

Thanks!
