Hi
Its not long that I started with OOo(2.3.0) and I am really fascinated with all the new things..(I am a windows convert to ubuntu-gutsy and enjoying it)
I have found this thing though (bug?)
Whenever I paste an image from a clipboard, the whole writer crashes and I have to recover my document. But there too it crashes(recovery process)...so today I lost around one hours work and that is really bad...is this a known bug?
Crash on using clipboard
Re: Crash on using clipboard
Details, please. Are you referring to any image at all, or a particular one? How large and what format?abicash wrote:Whenever I paste an image from a clipboard, the whole writer crashes and I have to recover my document.
What version of Writer? You mentioned Ubuntu Gutsy as an OS, but where did you get your OOo installation? Some Ubuntu distros are known to be unstable, so the usual recommendation is to download from the OpenOffice.org website.
Some situations do result in a recovery cycle that seems hard to break, but that probably won't help if a pasted image in the file is corrupt or too large or otherwise has problems. There are ways to remove the image if it's embedded...abicash wrote:But there too it crashes(recovery process)...so today I lost around one hours work and that is really bad...is this a known bug?
But we need to know exactly what you're working with before we can start thinking about solutions.
Cheers!

Yes I was referring to any image.First I tried with a 17kb jpg image that i tried to paste into writer(i guess 2.3.0) and then with a 17kb png image. The writer crashes/freezes and I have to force quit.foxcole wrote: Are you referring to any image at all, or a particular one? I have installed the OOo from the live cd of ubuntu-gutsy.
I had copied an image from an html document and then tried to paste it on my document.foxcole wrote: Some situations do result in a recovery cycle that seems hard to break, but that probably won't help if a pasted image in the file is corrupt or too large or otherwise has problems.
