[Solved] Display multiple pages on screen

Post by Skel8tor »

Gudday

Rusty graphic designer here. My page size is 55mm x 90mm and there will be over 400 pages

I want to view more than one page at a time on screen, pag 1-4 across he top, pages 5-8 on the next row down.

Just not sure how to change the view from 1 on screen to more

?

The nearest you can get to what you describe is by changing the view layout. On the right of the status bar are three icons, from left to right they are single page, side-by-side, and book layout views. Try side by side - with your page size you should get a reasonable number of pages across the screen.

As robleyd says: note that changing the scale factor determines how many pages show side by side on your screen.

If your pages are all discrete, not one continuous connected roll of text, then you might be better using Impress than Writer at it has different views including a slide sorter view for side by side viewing.

Thank you all , now moving from viewing to printing.

I have several Impress documents ranging from 6 pages to 60, and want to print them on A4.

Each slide is 90mm x 55mm

And am lost, Export? PDF? Print?
How to get multiple slides on a printed page?
(So far the computer has decided they are to be on Letter size, then scaled the slides down to get 6 Letter sized ones on a A4.)

The paper size for printing is set by pressing the Properties button on the main Print screen and selecting the desired paper size from those returned by the Printer driver, i.e., which the printer "knows" about. Some smaller sizes may not be available if the printers cannot handle them, but almost every printer can handle US Letter and A4. Paper orientation (Portrait/Horizontal) may also be set in the same dialog.

It is possible to change the low level printer settings by /File /Printer Settings: Properties button. It may be necessary to set and reset these values several times to cause them to take.

Note that, in Impress, using /File /Print, one can print full page handouts of multiple slides. This is selected by using the Page Layout tab in the Impress Print dialog, and choosing from the dropdown how many images you want on page. On A4 or US Letter paper 6 images per sheet is a good starting point. The Preview image on the Print dialog will change to show your selection.

Edit: on the General tab of the Impress print dialog one can use the dropdown (bottom, centre-left) to select just what is printed - slides, handouts, notes, outline. So between these settings on General tab and those on Page Layout tab, one can print, for example, multiple images of slides and their associated notes on an A4/Letter sheet. Worth playing with!
