[Solved] Thick black lines blocking out text

Post by LilCatMomma83 »

Hello when I open or create a doc in Writer, I am getting thick black lines blocking out chunks of text. The programme "looks" different - it's not giving me option to use Full Screen, it just seems different today. This is happening with all saved documents. Anyone else had this ? Can anyone advise please?

Edit: Changed subject, was Writer is corrupted?

Can you upload one of those documents here?

Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

If other software doesn't look so bad, maybe there is some corruption in AOO. First, reset your user profile. Click here for help how to do that. If that doesn't work, try a new install. First remove the existing installation.

Thank you so much. I followed this (as a non techy person, I am so proud of myself lol) and it seems to have worked. Touch wood. Thanks so much - very, very grateful

Thank you! Can you tell what worked for you? Reset of the user profile or complete re-installation?

It seemed to be the change of user profile that worked. I re installed but that didn't make a difference.

When you uninstall AOO, the user profile (that's a container that holds all of your customizations) is not deleted, so that you can use them with a new version of AOO. Always first check the user profile, only if that doesn't help, re-install.
