iPod Touch/iPhone Support?

Post by KnifeLord »

Howdy,
I'd be interested in a free edition of OpenOffice.org's Writer app for the iPod Touch (and iPhone for those who have them...) I feel that this would be a useful app for taking long-length notes. Printer support would be awesome, but just having an actual text-application for the iPod would be wonderful!

Thanks,
-Will

Hi and welcome to the community!

OpenOffice is a rather large software package that might be difficult to adapt to mobile devices.
In any case, it would have to be rewritten or redeveloped for mobile devices to optimize it for low powered CPUs and low memory.

Therefore porting of OOo on smartphones is unfortunately not planned so far.

So far, I only know of solutions for Symbian and Windows Mobile, some of them are not Open Source, though.
See e.g. this thread: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... php?t=1437

Thanks Phil. Perhaps a future thought in that case.
