Can't open files after installing 4.1.15

Every day for the last 13 years i kept a journal. i had an entry for every day. 365 entries times 11 years. Tonight i downloaded the "improved" Open Office and cannot open any of my files. i am really upset. Can anyone help?

You don't say exactly what happens when you can't open a file so difficult for anyone to help. For what it is worth I would suggest giving LibreOffice a try and see if you have better luck with that. free software is worth what you pay for it. i will pay Microsoft for Microsoft Office and ditch Open Office.

It would take you all of five minutes to try out LibreOffice and see if that solves your issue. But, each to their own I guess.

So why ask for help then if you prefer to ignore it?

It's entirely possible that there may be a simple solution; can you describe any error message you get, or exactly what you do to try and open your file(s) and what happens when you do that?

Did you upgrade OpenOffice while the earlier OpenOffice was open? Was there a Windows update about the same time?

I hope your journal files are in separate years and backed up several times, both on your computer and to offline storage.

i now have 4 years of documents that i cannot access including all my tax return information. Open Office is a joke.

So, well, see you in 6 years?
It seems you nevertheless spared the cost of MS Office during the last 6 years.
