Unexpected document format change

I was in the process of deleting the contents of a document, so I was highlighting the entire document contents and when my mouse got to the bottom of the page, the document shrunk in size to a much smaller version in the upper left corner of the page. Now ALL of my Open Office documents open as small documents with tiny fonts in the upper left hand corner of the page. What happened? How can I reverse what happened.
