Hi there, I'm having a problem indenting the line before the last line of a paragraph, I am using the ctrl+enter combination and the appropriate setting but it isn't working, can you help me please?

Re: Indenting last line of paragraph
Problem solved, I put a "tab" character at the end of the line with the expanded characters and it indented the line on the left.

Re: [Solved] Indenting last line of paragraph
Because that is not the last line of the Paragraph. Only the line with ENTER at the end of it will be the LAST line of the Paragraph.I'm having a problem indenting the line before the last line of a paragraph, I am using the ctrl+enter combination
The Line Feed character will not close the Paragraph.

Re: [Solved] Indenting last line of paragraph
Also, for Left to Right text, as in many Western countries, an indent is space to the left of the line, as in this sample
.
What I think the OP meant was that he wished the last line left aligned as in this sample.
.
That is easily done by setting Last line Left, as in his screenshot, and terminating the paragraph with the Enter key, as Zizi64 said.
Very rarely does one have to use line breaks (Shift Enter) in OpenOffice.
.
Code: Select all
text text text text
text text text text
text text text
.
Code: Select all
text text text text
text text text text
text text text

Re: [Solved] Indenting last line of paragraph
I wanted a line break because I didn't want to break the paragraph. Anyway, thanks for the clarifications, using the "tab" hack did it for me and indented that line nicely.

I have changed the title.
Nice hack BTW, I learnt something with your trick.

Re: [Solved] Preventing justification within paragraph
This is an X-Y problem.
The result depends on the length of text in the paragraph, and also on the tab settings for that paragraph. By default these are every 12.5 mm; it they are changed, as for example to remove most or all of them, then the line feed character wraps the text at the next tab to the right. Insert more text in the body of the paragraph and the last line changes.
Better to terminate the paragraph with an Enter key, allowing the default last line setting align the line to the left. Adjust the paragraph styles so there is no inter-paragraph white space and (if necessary) no leading indent on the first line of the new paragraph.
Proper use of Styles rather than direct formatting will avoid inelegant fixes.

Re: [Solved] Preventing justification within paragraph
The issue is not with the last line but with a line within the paragraph.
I also tried with a different tab settings and it works the same.
The hack is quite clever IMHO because you don't need a hassle of styles at all. If the string belongs to a single paragraph but you need that string not to be justified, then it does the job.
