[Solved] Bullets keep switching to vertical lines
I'm creating and editing a document using Neo Office. It contains many bullet points using the standind round blobs.
Some of the blobs keep defaulting to a vertical line when re-opening the document, and it's a pain to have to keep correcting them.
Why is this happening and ehat can I do to stop it happening?
Thanks

Re: Bullets keep switching to vertical lines
Very likely a problem with the font used. It may be replaced by a known one at first when you create the text but at reopening, Neo may be lost.
Can you check that the font used for the bullet is installed?
Can you upload a sample file (see: How to attach a document here)?

Re: Bullets keep switching to vertical lines
When the bullets are correctly displayed the font is shown as Symbol;Arial Unicode. When the vertical lines are showing the font displayed is Wingdings. The defaulting to Wingdings seems to occure randomly, maybe only on a few instances in the document.

Re: Bullets keep switching to vertical lines
Make sure that the OpenSymbol font is installed (or at least seen by AOO), it may help.
Are the Symbol or Wingdings fonts available in other applications?
If you use the toolbar button, better avoid it and use list styles where you can define the exact font to be used.

Re: Bullets keep switching to vertical lines
I've installed OpenSymbol, but it hasn't solved the problem. I find if I get it to display the bullets correctly, I can save and re-open the document once, and all is well. However if I save and re-open a second time, the bullets have reverted to vertical lines again.
I'm not clear what you mean by selecting the font using list styles?

Re: Bullets keep switching to vertical lines
I'm using NeoOffice on a MacBook Pro. As it happens the document in question was originally created on a PC using OpenOffice. I wonder if this might be relevant?

Re: Bullets keep switching to vertical lines
Very likely.
As said, try to change the bullets by using a list style where you select the font and character you need.
Note: you should update your signature if you don't use Windows.

See the wiki (no wiki for 4.x): https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Docume ... eted_lists
And: [Solved] Bullet Point Characters Incorrect (usually the most relevant on Mac but it may be slightly different from your issue).

Re: Bullets keep switching to vertical lines
Right, I've switched over to using the .odt format, and having edited all the bullets they seem to be solidly there with no problems.
