[Dropped] Font size opposite to expectation

I am working on a document and when i try to make the text bigger it makes it smaller how do i fix this problem?

I'm not using any command I just go up to where it says font si and i change it that way

Are yo usure you don't mix the icons between font size and superscript/subscript?
If you select your text, go to the font size field in the toolbar (the one with a value) and change that value, what happens?
Can you post a screenshot of the toolbar command you are using?

For that to work, you have to select a section of text and then change the size in the toolbar. But this is Direct Formatting; you should be using Styles.
