[Solved] Cross-References to Footnotes Show the Wrong Number

Post by James Bejon »

Dear All,

My cross references to footnotes link to the right footnote but display the wrong number. For instance, I go to Insert ⇒ Cross-Reference ⇒ Footnotes and select the right footnote, which it links to, but displays a different number in the link. (Would have included a screenshot but not sure how.)

Have I done something strange?

James.

A screen capture is virtually useless in this instance; it shows what happened but not why. Better to upload a sample document that demonstrates the problem.

See How to attach a document for details regarding attaching a document.

Hopefully that’s worked.

It seems that when you Insert ⇒ Cross-Reference ⇒ Footnotes you didn't notice the default of Insert reference to page.

Choose instead Insert reference to reference.
For the above screen capture, I first chose the default of page, then added a further link to reference.
