[Solved] Table of contents not changing style
[Solved] Table of contents not changing style
Hello, I have a problem with changing the style of my table of contents. I tried to modify the style so the text is aligned to the left and it is not changing. Also, I don't know how to get rid of the dots. I want the table of contents to be simple and easy to read. No matter what I so it's not changing it. Please help.

Re: Table of contents not changing style
Right click on the table of contents and select Edit Index/Table. On the Entries tab of the dialog, what is in the box to the right of the label Structure? An image of that dialog would be useful to see.

Re: Table of contents not changing style
In the Structure line, click on the first T and then press the Delete key. Do the same to the second T. You should then have just the symbols E, T, and #. Those will cause the table of contents to show the headings, a series of dots, and the page number.

Re: Table of contents not changing style
Ok, so that brought my level 1 headings to the left, but the level 2 is still on the right and there are still too many dots.

You might find Tables of Contents in the OpenOffice Wiki a useful reference for managing the table of contents.

The Wiki advice doesn't help with these questions. Thanks so much for the help so far, I could never think of it myself and I did try to search for it.

Re: Table of contents not changing style
If the numbers are to the left of the headings, then the # symbol in the Structure box must be to the left of the E. Delete the # and then click to the right of the T and click on the Page No. button just below the Structure box.

Perhaps you missed the links on the right of that page, one of which is Customizing a table of contents; that page also has a few links at the bottom which are relevant. The Wiki advice doesn't help with these questions
