What happens if you start OpenOffice and click on /Tools/Extension Manager? Does English spelling dictionaries... show? Is it installed - Disable/Remove buttons will show if so.

Step 1: Can you reproduce the problem on the Guest User account?
Q28: How do I use the Guest User account to run a test?
Q29: How can I access a file from the Guest User account without a USB drive?

Step 2: If the problem does not happen on the Guest User account, sign off and reset your profile when using your normal account.
Q02: How do I create a new profile on a Mac?

Step 3: As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall, but not before performing Steps 1 and 2:
Q04: How do I uninstall OpenOffice on a Mac?
Q03: How do I install OpenOffice on a Mac?

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.
