[Solved] Paste as plain (unformatted) text by default

I often have to copy text from an external source, like a web page, into a spreadsheet, and every time I will be asked to select the language, and the text is inserted with whatever formatting it has brought with it, so text from a header is inserted in a huge font etc. Is there not an option somewhere to tell Calc to always insert the plain text, exactly as if I just typed it in from the keyboard?

At the moment I use a workaround: I first paste the text to a kwrite window, then copy that into the spreadsheet - but it shouldn't be necessary. And I can't for my life image why anyone would want a spreadsheet full of cells in random formats.

I believe LO can do this using Ctrl + Alt + Shift + V

For OpenOffice read about PasteUnformatted in [Tutorial] Favorite Recorded Calc Macros. I use this many times a week. Assign a keboard shortcut of your choice or put a button on a toolbar for ease of use.

Hi, thanks to both for replying. I do know the Vulcan Nerve Grip way of doing this - what I am after is an option somewhere, so a simple Ctl-V does this. Pressing many keys simultaneously is OK on rare occasions, but it isn't so OK when you have to do it over and over and also have to cope with arthritis.

Then change the paste unformatted text shortcut: go to Tools > Customize, Keyboard tab.
In Shortcut Keys, select for example Ctrl+V.
In the Category, select Edit, then in Function select paste unformatted text and then Modify button.
