I have a Calc spreadsheet that's heavily formula-based. I was using this on an (at least) 10 year old MacBook, but last week I decided to replace it with a Chromebook. When using Calc on the new laptop, it won't let me copy/paste the formulas, it will just paste the values in the cells I've copied.
I'm going to use bullet points to list all the info and troubleshooting I've done, hopefully that will be easier to read than paragraphs:
- Using OpenOffice 4.1.11 on Chromebook...installed and run via Linux.
- Paste Special asks to paste Unformatted text, HTML, or a picture.
- I've seen threads saying clipboard manager will interfere with Paste Special...I'm not sure if there's a setting to turn it off. When I look at the cells I've copied on the clipboard manager, they look like pictures, not text (which might explain why that's an option in Paste Special?). So maybe the way the Chromebook OS copies non-text doesn't work with Calc?
- I've also seen threads saying Skype Extension on Chrome caused issues as well, but I haven't installed that and doesn't look like it came with the software. Just for troubleshooting purposes I had the idea to uninstall Chrome entirely but (shockingly) the Chromebook OS won't give me an option to uninstall Chrome.
- I tried updating to 4.1.13 but when I check for updates through the OpenOffice program it tells me the update check failed ("Error reading data from the Internet"). Could I just use the same terminal commands as when I installed 4.1.11 and just replace .11 with .13 ?
(Or, if the solution is to just return the Chromebook entirely, that's fine too haha.)
