[Solved] Unable to save in 4.1.11
[Solved] Unable to save in 4.1.11
I am unable to save any OO document. I receive the enclosed error message and I have no idea how to correct this.
OO used to have a preference defining where to save. In my case, I want to save on the Desktop. I see nowhere I can define this. However, at this point I can't even save a document.

Create a new folder somwhere on your storage device (for example on an another HDD) where you are sure that you have write rights, and try the saving again into the new folder. If it works, then you/AOO have lost the write rights in the Users/user/Documents folder. Check is in your operating system.

Re: Unable to save in 4.1.11
As the info on the Documents shows, I still have R/W privileges. Sadly, this is not the solution. However, I appreciate the attempt.

Can you save a file in the desired location from any other application, perhaps the system plain text editor?

OK, first, yes, as administrator I can save in preview.
When I login as guest, yes! I can save and define where I want to save.
I think we're on to something...

To be clear, the problem isn't solved. I can save as a guest but not as the user.
What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Re: Unable to save in 4.1.11
That tells you there is some difference in Save rights between you as user and the guest user.
I'm not a Mac user, but I would suggest removing your User rights on the target folder, restarting computer, then resetting rights to that folder for you User. Often this clears some setting that, while apparently correct, is misbehaving.

Re: Unable to save in 4.1.11
Rory, I appreciate the suggestion. However, I'm sure what the Mac equivalent of that is. Further, I can't even get that far. Once I try to define a target folder (the desktop) I get the error message popup.
I think I need a OpenOffice Mac guru to help me with this one.

You have a new OpenOffice configuration file when you use the Guest User. Perhaps your configuration file (the "profile") on your other account is bad. You could try creating a new one for the account where the save fails.n8ivefl wrote:I can save as a guest but not as the user.
