Calc spreadsheets not opening after many uses

Please help. I cannot open previously a created spreadsheet I've been using for years. The progress bar stalls about 3/4 the way. No timeout. No messages. Just spins. I have to close the program. I thought the sheet was corrupted and created another. After about a month of use, same thing. I can open some older sheets and some I cannot. None are password protected. Thank you!

You ca try LibreOffice, it is under active development and may do better.
