Hi,
I downloaded a word doc file with comments and amended the document using Openoffice Writer. I saved as OpenOffice ODT and closed the file and when I try and open it again I get the following message:
"Read-error format error discovered in the file in sub-document content.xml at 2,3316 (row, col)"
I've tried the suggestions in similar htreads on this forum, such as opening with WinRar, but that doesn't work and yields more error messages. Is there any way to fix this? TIA

Please upload the file; the Upload tab is below the Submit button on Post Reply or Full Editor screens, but not on the Quick Reply screen.

Thanks for your reply .Isn't there any other way of fixing the file? I've tried using online convertor tools but they all come up with error messages too

The quickest way to fix the file is to upload it; I'm sure John_Ha will agree. We need the actual broken file, not a version of it that has been Saved after a repair attempt.

Re: Read-error format error discovered in the file in sub-do
You unzip the OpenOffice file; then open content.xml with an XML editor, and remove all but one of the tags at 2,3316, re-save the altered content.xml and rebuild the OpenOffice file. But it is easy to damage the file, possibly beyond repair. Upload for an experienced operator to fix is simpler and quicker.
