Recovery of OpenOffice document I deleted by mistake

Post by WaltSnowrancruzick »

OpenOffice was my go-to writing tool for long stretches. Above and below the document that I pasted notes on, I had jotted down some thoughts. When I was done, I believed I had deleted the notes, but I ended up losing the document. Obviously, there was no autosave. I don't know where to look for trash. Is there another way to recover? Thanks

Welcome to the Forums.
While your signature indicates that you are using a Linux version (and a very old version of OpenOffice), you still might find this tutorial helpful.
The tutorial is based on a Windows system, but some of it (I believe) is OS independent.

You might try PhotoRec, which may recover a deleted version of the file.
