[Solved] Changing default path

Post by kglobus »

I am trying to have OpenOffice Writer always look to the "My Documents" folder as the default folder to open an existing file. I have changed the default in "Tools, Options, Paths" but it doesn't seem to change anything. The program always seems to go to the directory where the last file was opened, even after closing the program and reopening it.

How do I get it to always default to the "My Documents" folder, at least each time I reopen the program.

Thanks.

Ken

You can't--as far as I know anyway.

However, the File > Open dialog window should have a "home" button (maybe in the upper right) which will take you to whatever path is configured in the Tools > Options > OO.org > Paths > "My Documents" setting, so it's probably only one click away.

I wasn't using the OpenOffice menus, so there was no "Home" button, but I turned them on and I see the button you are talking about. While it would have been nice to have the option (as "Word" does) to always default to one directory, at least, as you said, this is only one click away no matter where it leaves me, so thanks for the suggestion.
