Does NeoOffice Professional still exist?
Does anyone know if NeoOffice Professional still exists?
I have v2017.29 and would like to renew my subscription to the non-Apple-Store version, but can't find any link at all for it.

Is there not a contact URL on /Help /About NeoOffice in any of its applications?

RoryOF;
I've been searching everywhere, but can't find a thing about a renewal URL. (Planmesa was always rather secretive)
They only seem to have the newest version of "plain" NeoOffice on the the Apple Store.
I originally subscribed to the "professional" version, because the Apple Store puts limitations on what NeoOffice can do.

Not sure what to think, now.
Sounds like NeoOffice Professional must be dead...no warning, no nothing.
I visited their wiki page and it said that there should be a payment button, if the subscription has run out.
However; that doesn't exist on the NeoOffice page, despite the page text saying that one should press a button to make a payment.
Oddly; my NeoOffice Professional 2017.29 copy will allow me to download the patch to version 2017.30, but not the version 2017.30 itself.
What a mess.
(I've serious doubts about getting the Apple Store version, because they tend to cripple everything they touch.)

In 2017 they switched from OpenOffice to LibreOffice -- and died(?).
Simply install LibreOffice for the Mac.

Villeroy;
Yes. I noticed that their "About" screen now says LibreOffice, rather than OpenOffice.
I was so happy with the quality of NeoOffice Professional. So, I'm a bit disappointed at their handling of things.
I'm downloading the LibreOffice you noted. Sure hope they support the same files I've built up over the years.
Do you think that LibreOffice will support the Mac M1 chip after Rosetta disappears (supposedly inevitable)?
I dread that day and the confusion it will likely bring.

Re: Does NeoOffice Professional still exist?
Oddly; I used the Check-for-updates button in the NeoOffice Professional help menu and it wanted to download 2017.30-patch0
So, I did. (Painfully slow for only 54.8 MB)
Normally; these patches only upgrade the .xx version number, but this one seems to upgrade version 2017.29 to 2017.30-patch0
Maybe this is some form of exit strategy from selling via the web? Don't really know...
So; I seem to be OK to use NeoOffice Professional on Big Sur for a bit longer.
That said; I'll be getting used to using LibreOffice, since it sounds like NeoOFffice Professional is on its way out.

If anybody will support platform changes, then it will be LibreOffice. Development of OpenOffice came to halt several years ago.History_Hunter wrote:Villeroy;

Re: Does NeoOffice Professional still exist?
Thanks Villeroy. I tried LibreOffice and it seems to work fine. Hope they will be able to keep up with Apple's changes to the OS.

NeoOffice looks alive to me. See https://twitter.com/neooffice reached by clicking the News tab. I don't know if that is different from NeoOffice Professional.

We have released NeoOffice 2017.30. This version of NeoOffice fixes the following bugs:
When running on macOS Monterey, NeoOffice's native save dialog would fail so NeoOffice now displays all native dialogs as modal dialog windows instead of sheet windows on macOS Big Sur and higher
When running in Dark Mode, NeoOffice would copy text from a Writer comment and would change the automatic color to black when pasted into any Writer comments
If you already purchased NeoOffice in Apple's Mac App Store, you can upgrade or redownload NeoOffice 2017.30 for free from the Mac App Store.
If you are currently using NeoOffice 2017 Professional Edition, you do not need to purchase NeoOffice from the Mac App Store. You can get all of the bug fixes by installing this patch.

Re: Does NeoOffice Professional still exist?
Thanks, John_Ha. I am concerned, because there is never any mention of the Professional version and most of the reviews on the Apple Store are quite old. Also; the NeoOffice site has nowhere to donate to get access to the Professional version.
