[SOLVED] Copy text but NOT the function

Post by David12846 »

Is there a way to copy only the text in a column and not the function from one column to another without copying the text to a spreadsheet then copying it back into the spreadsheet in another column?

I am not sure if this is what you want to do. Copy the cells, select the destination and then use the menu Edit -> Paste Special. In that dialog you can choose to paste only Text or Number or various other aspects of the cells. Does that work for what you want to do?

That worked :super: . That was so much easier than copying a column of text created by a formula (Concatenate A+B into C) into a text document... then copying that text back into a new column (D) and deleting columns A, B, and C.

The method I was using was giving me problems because this time each cell included <Ctrl>+<Enter>. Copying the data back into the spreadsheet would put the 2nd line into the next row.

You can also try this trick (perhaps it will be even easier for you). Don't copy column C, just select it and choose menu Data-Text to Columns then Fixed width-OK. Now select columns A and B and delete them.
I may not have a lot to give but what I got I'll give to you...
