Hello everybody,
new to the forum, not new to open office, but this problem drives me crazy:
- Brand New 4.1.7 installation on brand new windows 10 (home edition) PC
- Split Database in Base (HSQLDB)
- Data connection within base is working properly, macros working within base without any problem, all data, all tables, everything is there
- Macro that opens Calc file and updates the area, that is connected to the Base file (registered database) => "Socket Creation Error"
- If I open the Calc file and try to reach the registered base file as data source => "SQL-Status: 08000 - Fehler-Code: -80 - socket creation error"
What I've tried so far:
- Turning the system off and on again (the classic)
- Deinstall and reinstall Open Office and the JRE (8)
- Installing and using JRE as 32bit and/or 64 bit version
- The base file is registered under the correct name - checked that
- deinstalled the free McAfee trial version that was preinstalled on the PC
- approved soffice, calc and base in the windows defender
I'm out of ideas ...
The base file and all its functions is running without any problems on other windows 10 PCs ... So it must be something with my computer/installation.
I really would appreciate your help, if anybody has any ideas!
If you need any further information, please reach out.
Thank you in advance!

Re: Error Calc/Base accessing registered database
Without any macro shit:
Check "Don't save imported data" in the db-range properties.
Use an URL-button or hyperlink to open the spreadsheet.
The application will prompt if you want to update unsaved db-range(s). Hit Enter to confirm.

Re: Error Calc/Base accessing registered database
Dear Villeroy,
thank you for your quick response. Didn't know that and it would make a lot of things easier.
I'm no professional programmer, so it is a lot learning by doing, things I find in the internet and often I come across knowledge like this that shows me sometimes my solutions may work but are complicated.
Unfortunately it didn't helped with my problem, that the registered base file is not accessible. But I've found the solution after thinking about what is different on my computer comparing to the others on which everything works fine: If you use files, that are stored in the OneDrive folder and therefore are backuped in OneDrive, then registered data sources are inaccessible. Copied everything on a folder on the data drive, that is not connected to OneDrive and everything works. I don't know why, would've expected the connection of the split database should've also failed, maybe I could have managed it with some OneDrive settings (I'm new to OneDrive) ... But it's fixed now.
Thank you again!
