[Solved] Spell Check with docs created by right click

Hi All,
Fairly new (couple of years by now) to OO and brand new to this forum.
Earlier I noticed the Spellcheck was not working, so first thing I did was make sure it was turned on etc., then went through the suggested trouble shooting tips posted here and else where. Nothing seemed to work. Even went into the anti-virus (Avast) saw OO was blocked. Aha! Unblocked OO, rebooted. Nope. Update check 4.1.7.
Then I wondered if it was because I used right click, New, Open Office Text Document, to start/create the offending document. Checked online -seems there were a few posts about this from 2013/ version 3.3.
Went back and started a new document via the proper channels -desktop short cut, text document, put in a nonsense word. Lo and Behold! the red line of bad spelling popped up!
Tried opening the original document via file, open -no spell check. Huh? Wah?
Copied the text, opened a new document with file etc., pasted the text... spell check working.
As any non-disinfectant injecting scientist would, I went through the same steps a few times.
Every time I created a new doc via right click -no spell check.
Every time I created a new doc via OO icon - working spell check.
Any ideas?

Documents created by right-click are copies of a document that doesn't have the correct language setting. To work around this you need to create a template with the correct settings and set that template as the default template. The default template will be applied to new documents created by right-click so the new documents will have the language setting and SpellCheck should work.

Aha! Thank you. I now have a template set.

One more thing does this have to be done for each type of document, Drawing/Spreadsheet/Presentation?

Well, they all use their own default template, so I suspect it does mean that
