[Solved] opening new text document
All of a sudden, when I start a new text document the text body is not centered - it is pushed way over to the right with about 3 inches of space on the left. I can scroll over but it is a pain - I want to restore centered documents.

Make sure the Status Bar is visible by turning it on with the menu View -> Status Bar. At the bottom right of the Writer window there will be a slider for setting the zoom and just to the left of that there will be three icons for setting the page layout. Check the leftmost of the three icons to view only a single page.
