Spreadsheet data lost, changed to XXXXX…
Spreadsheet data lost, changed to XXXXX…
Been using spreadsheet for about a year now to record all my purchases and expenses for a new house build. I have not had any problems, till today. I opened as usual and went up to recents and chose my spreadsheet file. It opened a page not in spreadsheet format but was had all fields as XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. I closed without getting a prompt to save or discard. I went back to the home page and specifically chose the spreadsheet option and went to open, found my spreadsheet file and opened it again to again all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. how do I get my old file back? (There are over 286 entries on the spreadsheet) What might I have done wrong to cause this?

Re: Problem with spreadsheet
Welcome to the Forums.
While the character you are reporting (X) is different from the one usually reported, namely #, I suspect that you have the same problem.
Please see The Dreaded Pound Signs as well as How to un-delete AOO temporary files
The usual cause for this is a hasty or unexpected system shutdown. The file format that AOO saves in requires more time than others.
