Export spreadsheet as PDF, reports as TextEdit

Edit: Split from "Save As" and PDF export not working because that topic is is for Windows. You have a MacOS problem. Windows doesn't even have TextEdit. Please do not post in a topic belonging to someone else unless you are helping to solve their problem for them. -- MrProgrammer, forum moderator

Trying to export a spreadsheet as PDF, for some reason always exports as Text Edit.
Was working fine two days ago, suddenly will not export pdf.
I've been using it for a couple years, very familiar with the program, checked all the settings etc.
Any suggestions?

Are you sure that the export is actually in TextEdit format? Perhaps your file associations are set such that PDF files are incorrectly associated with TextEdit?
