Hi, I know this problem is similar to others posted, but I am not entirely understanding other directions ... also, the discussion of extensions is confusing me a bit because I don't have any installed!
I am receiving an ERROR on load of Writer that reads:
"Error loading BASIC of document
file:///C:/Program%20Files/OpenOffice.org
%202.4/program/../share/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/PhotoAlbum.zip/PhotoAlbum/script.xlb:
General Error.
General input/output error.
The error message repeats itself when I press "OK"... and then the writer loads and functions as normal.
So far I have tried uninstall/reinstall... I have tried locating and moving the PhotoAlbum directory (there is no file in it, not even hidden)... I never had a PhotoAlbum extension, and there is not one listed in my extensions folder... Even so, I tried finding one, installing it, fiddling, etc... to no avail.
Right now I am trying another suggestion which was to do a total uninstall, including a delete of the old folders and application data. Though, my error is coming from Program Files, so I don't think removing old App Data will help... could, never know...
I'm running WinXP, have had OOo for years now, upgraded in the last few months to 2.4
Any help appreciated!

Re: BASIC Error
From where have you got OOo?
If the extension is here, it's because someone has installed it! Had you checked the extension manager (Tools>Extension manager)?

Re: BASIC Error
I have been an OO user for almost 3 years and this is the first time I have had a problem. The twist I would like to add is that this is only happening to my wife when she is logged in under her XP profile. I do not get this BASIC error on my XP profile.
I do not have any extensions installed. I downloaded 2.4 from openoffice.org

Re: BASIC Error
Then she must have installed it some time ago. Extensions seems to be rather sensitive to the upgrade. You should log in with her account, uninstall the extension and reinstall it if she needs it.
You can't see the problem because extensions are installed in the user profile, hence depends on the OS account.

Re: BASIC Error
I just logged on my wife's profile and she has no extensions installed either. I want to make sure I am understanding this correctly; when I open the extension manager there are two items in the list: my extensions and openoffice extensions. Neither of these items expand to indicate there are extensions installed. This means that no extensions are installed, correct?
I also reproduced the error so that I can post the exact message. Mine is a slightly different but it behaves the same way the original poster described:

Re: BASIC Error
Rather weird. First remove the OOo 1.1 installation folder in Progam files. Then, you should reset the OpenOffice.org user profile. Then, after a new profile has been created, you should be able to retrieve your user configuration by copying old files and folders from old profile to new one. Don't copy the uno_package old folder however.

Re: BASIC Error
Happy to say that my problem seems to have been resolved by removing OOo, rebooting, removing all old application data (in the App Data and Program Files directories), restarting... and then reinstalling OOo 2.4.
So far so good...
