Autocorrect ignores case of input word

Post by patb »

Why does the autocorrect feature in Writer ignore the case of the input word? I would like the replacement text to follow the case of the text I insert. For example, when I type "abbrevn" I would like the replacement to be "abbreviation" but when I type "Abbrevn" I would like the replacement to be "Abbreviation" and when I type "ABBREVN" I would like the replacement to be "ABBREVIATION". This seems logical, but replacement text always follows the case in the replacement table, which is usually lower case. Is there a macro or other workaround for this? Any comments appreciated.

Cheers, Pat.

See this:
AutoCorrections does not match case of the words that AutoCorrect replaces.

And this:
Bug in AutoCorrect - it changes case...
The AutoCorrect feature does not currently have a means to recognize case. The workaround is, basically, to create an AutoComplete entry for each "case" of words you will be typing frequently.
Cheers!
