I have imported some US text which I translate. Kerning is used, which compresses the space between letters here and there. I need to switch kerning off throughout the text without disturbing other formatting. I cannot find anything about kerning in the Help-function, nor in the forum.
Does anyone know how to switch it off?
Would be most helpful...

Select /Format /Styles and formatting. Click on first icon from left, then right click on each paragraph style used. Choose Modify, Position tab and adjust Spacing (probably to Default) and perhaps turn off pair kerning.

Paragraph style "Default" affects all the other styles. It may be sufficient to change this one.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Thank you to you both! It does not quite seem to work these ways: I dod both, and still I find text which does not seem to become "un-kerned", like you see on enclosed dump.
Any suggestions for next move?

There may be direct formatting applied, which overwrites the style formatting. If you have made the change to the paragraph style, select a paragraph still showing compressed type and press Ctrl M to remove the direct formatting.
Alternately, when pasting from the Internet, use /Edit /Paste Special and choose "unformatted text" from the popup. This will remove all formatting from the text to be pasted.

To RoryOF,
Thank you so much!
You were right, there was som direct formatting involved. But is there a way to swithc off even such kerning in the text without destroying other formatting done in the text, like the use of italics here and there, a.s.o.?

It may be easiest to Paste Special as Unformatted text, and apply desired formatting. Alternately, you could select each compressed word individually and use Ctrl M to remove the direct formatting.

Yes, that works fine for limited amounts of text. I work on a 600 pages text where I do not know where the compressed text is. Is there a solution as to how to search it? Or a global command?
