[Solved] Upgraded to OO 2.4 and form is not working

Post by pkl »

Hi, I upgraded to OO 2.4 (from 2.2 I believe) and the whole form section does not seem to work. The form from my old database does not open when I click on it, and the "create form" links under "tasks" are greyed out. Any ideas of what may be going on, and more importantly, what I can do?

Thanks. I see that the "Use a Java runtime environment" box is checked, and a version (the most recent) is selected. Should I change anything?

I installed OOo 3.0 beta, and have the same problem there. I create a new database, and find that all Tasks options (Create Form, Use Wizard) are greyed out under Forms and Reports. (The Tasks options are alive/functional under Tables and Queries.) The same is the case when I use my old database: The existing form does not open, and the Tasks options are greyed out.

Version 3 requires some recent version of Java (1.5.x or 1.6.x? I don't know). 2.4 used to work with rather old Java 1.4.2. I use 1.5.x currently with OOo 2.4.1. So I'm afraid, Java has nothing to do with the failure.

I found the answer: I installed Writer (which is used by Base for forms and reports), restarted the machine, and it all works fine now.
