Hi, new to using Base.
I'm running Fedora Core 8 86-64 and have OO version 2.3.0-6.7.fc8
I've taught myself MYSQL and wanted to use Base to create the forms to enter the data.
Also used Base to create a local db.
Have gotten the db into Base and can do queries and reports and use the table functions for both DBs.
But when I use the Forms Wizard it allows me to get the form created, but when I try to enter data OO closes and when I bring it back it ask to restore the DB.
This happens for either db. Tried to use the design form but not sure how to get the data from/to the db, so dropped that approach.
Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong as I can find no answers searching this forum.
Thanks,
John

Hi,
Sounds like an instability in either OOo or your Java 64 bit libs. It might be specific to Fedora, I'm afraid.

Re: OO Closing when trying to use BASE Forms Wizard
Im using 64bit Kubuntu and the distro's release of OO.o 2.3.1
Ran into the same kind of problems until I switched over to SUN Java, since then I have not experienced this particular problem - although a few issues linger. ( for instance the other day I had a Base file open, 1 embedded form and 2 separate writer files - poof the whole thing just went away - no crash report, no recovery on restart - hasn't happened again)
To this point I had been switching to the vanilla OO.o 64bit, found at linx.cz, but with the 7.1 release of Kubuntu have been attempting to stay with the distro release. So far so good, with as I say a few problems but nothing - anyways I would recommend the SUN Java first - if you are still having problems and you don't absolutely need the distro release of OO.o you might want to look at getting Vanilla OO.o.
