Sending a spreadsheet on smartphone

When sending a spreadsheet by email it sends as a zip file and i cannot open on my smart phone any suggestions?

With what application are you attempting to open the file on your smartphone?

When I click on the zip file it takes me to a page where i can print, message or email but no option to open.

What brand is your smart phone and what is its operating system?
LibreOffice 7.3.7. 2; Ubuntu 22.04

Your smartphone may need an application installed that understands spreadsheets. If you are using Internet Explorer to transfer the spreadsheet to the smartphone, it is not surprising that the file is being transferred ass type .zip - the OO files are a series of associated internal files built into a .zip archive; Internet Explorer is notorious for renaming these from the OO designation to .zip; you can and should rename them to the correct extension when received on the smartphone. But you must have installed on your smartphone some application that knows about spreadsheets of the correct format.
