Importing footnotes from MS Word

Post by cheekymonkeydotcom »

Hello,

I followed a post that said just what I needed but I couldn't follow the recommendations. His and my question is as follows:

When I import a document from word the footnotes all end up at the end of the paper. In the original document they were on the page where they needed to be. I looked through all of the help topics that I could find in openoffice about footnotes and/or importing and cannot find anything relevant. How can I import a document and have the footnotes appear at the bottom of each page.

The answer was:

Your text may have been imported in a section. Then, open the Navigator (F5), or Format>Section and in the last tab of the properties (Options button), uncheck the options sending the notes at the end.

I could get to the Navigator but what followed was confusing. I'll admit, I'm a bear of little brain.

thank you for your help.

Greetings and welcome to the community forum!

I would check: Tools > Footnotes/Endnotes > Position: End of page: YES

If that doesn't fix it, then try Format > Sections > Footnotes/Endnotes ...

The Navigator step is superfluous as far as I know.
