Welcome beginner. Please answer all of the questions below which may provide information necessary to answer your question.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using?
What Operating System (version) are you using?
What is your question or comment?
I am using both OOo 1.1.5 and 2+;
Windows XP and 98SE and 95osr2.5 plus some Linux (presently Freespire) on various (older) computers.
Please do not think this makes me a technician, I am merely the experimenting type of user.
I stumble on a problem: for an old small laptop Compaq Armada 4150 which the hardware of is not really Linux-friendly (negative colours with DSL) and which with 150MHz and 80MB RAM is too slow for anything superior to W95, I want old Open Office 1.1 but ... in Dutch language.
Though OOo 1.1.5 is being offered with such option on http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.5/index.html , the download resulted (twice) in English version only.
Would someone have a remedy, or a better link to download Dutch version OOo 1.1.5 from?

Re: OOo 1.1 in Dutch language
I don't know where to find OpenOffice.org 1.5 in Dutch. But I'm thinking that on a machine with the specifications you described, OOo just really is not going to be a good choice. It will run far too slowly. Or at least, that's true in my experience. For a long time, I used an old laptop with 96MB of RAM and a Cyrix 333 MHz processor, and I found OOo 1 (I don't remember which version I tried) far too slow for my purposes. There are some alternatives, though.
Have you ever tried Abiword for word processing?
http://www.abisource.com/
According to this list, Dutch is a supported language:
http://www.abisource.com/languages.phtml
For the most part, Abiword does fine with ODT format files, if that is a concern.
For spreadsheets, you could try Gnumeric.
http://www.gnome.org/projects/gnumeric/
I'm pretty sure it supports Dutch, too.
I'm not sure how to add software to DSL, but if you want to try Abiword and Gnumeric, you could use Puppy Linux, another distribution with low system requirements:
http://www.puppylinux.org/home
It includes both Abiword and Gnumeric by default:
http://www.puppylinux.org/wiki/applicat ... -installed
I'm not sure if there is a Dutch version of Puppy, though, you'd need to look around in their site.
Anyway, those are just a few ideas.

Re: OOo 1.1 in Dutch language
No, I read all over the Web that OOo 1.1.5 does exist in Dutch, but other (Dutch) download links are dead and websites lack a contact facility.
I need the program to run under w95 and the small laptop has no CD-player and no USB, so limited choice for experimental Linux and moreover, DSL (Damned Small Linux) has already failed.
The english version 1.1.5 works o.k, but I prefer to have Dutch as the screen language on family equiment.
I am afraid that http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.5/index.html made an error at linking the various versions for download.

Re: OOo 1.1 in Dutch language
Yes, it seems so. When I try to download the German version I get redirected to http://de.openoffice.org/downloads/quic ... sion=1.1.5I am afraid that http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.5/index.html made an error at linking the various versions for download.
There I can pick "Windows" below "alte OOo-Versionen" (old versions) and then "1.1.5" to start a download of ftp://archive.services.openoffice.org/p ... all_de.zip (notice the _de).
I filed an issue http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=91776

Thanks a lot; maybe they repair it soon.Villeroy wrote:Yes, it seems so. Edit: in vain, I tried to trick the system by using your link, "modified" with "nl" instead of "de"; all I got was an error mention.

Re: OOo 1.1 in Dutch language
I found a page with links to old Dutch language versions, but all Windows links are unfortunately dead: http://nl.openoffice.org/download-OOo1_1.html. Maybe if you sign up there you can report that and maybe they can provide a link that works.
