I often use Draw to produce annotated versions of small photographs (adding arrows & text mostly) & have been satisfied with the process as being much simpler than using, for instance Gimp.
My method is to open a new Draw document, insert a JPEG image, add required text etc, group the additions to the image, select the image, select File > Export, select "Selection" & JPEG & Quality = 100.
The exported image quality has been adequate for my purposes, so far.
But now I want to annotate a 1.4MB (2131 x 1450 pixels) image & maintain the quality afterwards.
If I try "Export as PDF" then I can do that OK, but I don't want a PDF file.
If I export as JPEG or GIF or BMP then I can only get a low-quality image (346kb 719 x 486 pixels) even if I choose the best quality offered (100).
Have I just missed something obvious?
Thanks!
This is using LibO 4.4.2.2 in Ubuntu 15.04.

Re: Very Limited Quality of Export-Selection Images?
I don't know about LibO but the current version of AOO inlcudes fully-configurable export of drawings to image files. You can set whatever pixel dimensions you want and the drawing will be rendered at that size.
It's available in OO Draw under File > Export ...

Re: Very Limited Quality of Export-Selection Images?
Thanks for that comment.
Am I on the right forum for LibO?
After a lot more trial & error, I can now see what is happening (roughly).
When I select best image quality with the Quality slider pushed to 100, it sets the resolution to 37dpi & produces a 19.02cm x 12.86cm 346.6kB image with 719 x 486 pixels (why?).
This is a poor quality image compared with the original 2131 x 1450 pixels.
If I then manually change the resolution to say 100dpi, it automatically reduces the physical image dimensions to 7.19cm x 4.86cm to keep a 346.6kB image with 719 x 486 pixels!
The resulting image is the same as above (why?).
It seems I need to firstly change resolution to say 100dpi, THEN manually increase the image size (say back to 19.02cm) which then gives me a good quality 2.1MB image with 1902 x 1287 pixels.
I find it hard to imagine that the designers intended it to be so difficult!
Surely setting the Quality slider to maximum should produce near-lossless quality?
