Changing Text Color in Calc, Impress & Writer
Changing Text Color in Calc, Impress & Writer
I just downloaded OO 4.1.2 and when I access an old document I cannot change the text color. Also I have an Impress file where the lines, symbols & text are all the same color and I can't change any part of it. I have been changing some of the color attributes using Personalization function in the Control Panel but I don't see how this affects the text attributes in OO....... THANKS Please Advise

Changes made via the User Control Panel affect the forum only.
There is no direct interaction between the forum and your installed version of OpenOffice.
As to your installed version of OpenOffice, you can change the text color using the Format menu, fine if you just want a "one-off" change.
If, however, you're looking for something where the color will be changed every time (eg: a header for a document always in blue), then make the change using Styles and Formatting (F11)

Russell, Thanks for the suggestion ......... BUT I opened an Impress Doc added some text clicked on Format and the drop down dialog box had no option for changing text color. What did I do wrong???

Re: Changing Text Color in Calc, Impress & Writer
I don't use Impress, but I did take a look.
When I open a presentation, the toolbar directly above the presentation has a button that looks like an A with an arrow beside it pointing down. It is the last button in that toolbar.
When I point at that button I get a box showing Font Color, and by selecting it I'm able to pick a different color for the character(s) that I currently have highlighted.

Re: Changing Text Color in Calc, Impress & Writer
Russell,
I go through the steps you suggested and text color "seems" to change in fact the very small dash near the "A" shows the color selected....... BUT it still shows Black on my display and the real weird thing is that when I print the doc the colored text prints out OK
This quirk is true with OO Writer, Impress and Calc
Loking forward to your reply!! THANKS in advance for your Help.
