I just reinstalled OpenOffice on my Vista laptop after having to install the OS anew.
I'm located in Israel. My OS is in English, and my primary (computer) language is English. I almost never use Hebrew on my PC. Thus, I want OpenOffice to work from left-to-right.
However, everything is set to right-to-left. "Align right" and "right-to-left" are selected by default. I cannot find the option to change this anywhere.
In Calc, all columns are from right to left (A is on the right side of my screen).
I can change it manually every time, but it should be left-to-right by default.
Version used: 2.4.1 en-US; OS Vista Home Premium 32 bit, English, but with support for Hebrew.
I've just deinstalled and reinstalled OpenOffice and this didn't solve anything.
The primary language is set to English. I have disabled CTL (selected language 'none' for CTL) in the Language Settings menu.
What do I do to get things the way they should be, everything from left-to-right by default?

Re: How to change default Right-to-left to Left-to-right
In Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages, have you tried to change the Locale setting field?
Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

Re: How to change default Right-to-left to Left-to-right
Hi and welcome to the forum. If your OOo has a Hebrew user interface (menu, help files, titles, names) change the user interface language at menu:tools>options...language settings>languages>[first option]. If this is impossible, close the office (mind the nasty quick starter) and install the following package: ftp://ftp-1.gwdg.de/pub/openoffice/exte ... _en-GB.exe
I'm confident, that the changed interface will make a difference.
The second locale option mainly affects numbers and conversions between text, numbers, dates and such. Switch it to English.
The settings you tried so far refer to written human language only. None of all the global options affects any stored document's nor template's content where a language or numeric locale may have been set explicitly.

Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Re: How to change default Right-to-left to Left-to-right
I thought the Locale setting would be copied from the User interface (which was English/USA). Guess not. I configured the Locale setting manually to English/USA and suddenly the problem is solved. Thanks!

I see that you've tagged the thread as solved, have you fixed it? Was it the locale field that triggered the right behavior? If the problem has not been solved, don't tag it.

It was - see the edited post above.
I initially thought that you were wrong (because I assumed that the Locale setting was copied from the User interface field), but you were right. Thanks!
