[Solved] Editing an OpenOffice File

Post by xmas242424 »

I successfully converted the information on my MDV viewer file to an Open Office Access file, however, I am unable to do any editing. Next step?

What do you mean by Openoffice access file? What format is the file? What is file name with the extension?

Try File--New-->Database. Then Select Database-->Connect to an existing database--->Choose Text in the drop down. Then click Next---> and choose Comma Separated Variables. Also browse to the file location on this screen.

New problem: I have another file that was converted from MDV viewer, to CSV format; File name- Apache Open Office 4 Beta Table Data View. When I go to edit this file (which is made of several tables and not just one table) I get the message "Java run time is defective, install new JRE by choosing Tools-Options-Open Office Beta-Java." After doing that it gives the information "Vendor : Oracle 1.8.0 - 60." , showing that JRE is installed, but I still can't edit. My computer shows that I am up to date Java updates.

If you are using Office 3.1 you need to use an earlier Java. It must be 32 bit Java and from memory a version like 1.6.46.

Yes. OpenOffice runs on 32bit.
