"Document does not exist " error in OOo 4.1
Hi folks, I've used Writer for years and have never struck this before. When I create a new doc in Writer, say have written half a page and try to Save as either odf or Word 2000/XP etc I get an angry dialogue box with a red X which imperiously says that the document I have just been working on " does not exist". Very, very frustrating. I got the same problem with OOo 3.4 and so installed the latest version to see if that would work...it doesn't. Help Please (using Windows 10 !!!)
Open Office 4.1 on Windows 7

What happens if you try to save to your desktop?
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.16 on Xubuntu 24.04.4 LTS

Strangely, your suggestion worked. The document saved on the desktop, but when I just try to do a "Save as (doc name)" I still get the red x warning "Error saving the document Untitled2 Nonexistent object"
What's going on RoryOF?

You may need to delete or rename your OpenOffice user profile. As you are using Windows do this by:
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Delete or Rename the "user" folder. Start OpenOffice.
