"Document does not exist " error in OOo 4.1

Post by camillusde »

Hi folks, I've used Writer for years and have never struck this before. When I create a new doc in Writer, say have written half a page and try to Save as either odf or Word 2000/XP etc I get an angry dialogue box with a red X which imperiously says that the document I have just been working on " does not exist". Very, very frustrating. I got the same problem with OOo 3.4 and so installed the latest version to see if that would work...it doesn't. Help Please (using Windows 10 !!!) :(

What happens if you try to save to your desktop?

Strangely, your suggestion worked. The document saved on the desktop, but when I just try to do a "Save as (doc name)" I still get the red x warning "Error saving the document Untitled2 Nonexistent object"

You may need to delete or rename your OpenOffice user profile. As you are using Windows do this by:
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Delete or Rename the "user" folder. Start OpenOffice.
