Can't save OpenOffice document using SharePoint Server

Post by Xesnas »

Hello i have some problem about saving OpenOffice in SharePoint Server.
First of all
I can upload document made by openoffice to sharepoint server with no problem.
My computer now has both OpenOffice and Microsoft Office 2003.
My default files type is OpenOffice
I use IE6.0 to open files stored in sharepoint server

OK Start with my problem.
Normally i used to work with Microsoft Office and sharepoint server like click the files's link, edit the files ,
and save those files.
But After i had installed OpenOffice into my computer ,I can't save files that opened by Openoffice .
It save my files to my temporary Internet instead .
And i try to change my default files type to microsoft office. it can't save too ! ! !
So i decide to uninstall Openoffice and all went fine... WHY!

After this problem i try to check if anything can help
and with my checking i found some interesting thing
If i install Openoffice First and then install Microssoft Office all went fine although i set my default files type to Openoffice.
It will always open the files on sharepoint server with Microsoft Office,And open with Openoffice in my local Computer.
i can save the files on sharepoint server.

But if i install Microsoft Office first it will get the same problem , Can't save the files on sharepoint server .

Anyone know how to solve this problem (Condition is i install Microsoft Office FIRST)
and Could you tell me why i can't save the files ?

PS. I'm not English User so If my grammar are wrong plz forgive me T_T(it's ok if you tell me where )
PS2 If i don't make myself clear enough plz tell me what information i should add

edit: Oh forget to tell this if i open the files store in sharepoint server with Firefox 3.0 my files are all read-only files whatever Openoffice or Microsoft office

No, don't worry. Or we would have left some comments.

In fact, your issue is rather OS related because it may be a problem with the registry keys modified by one or the other installer. We're just users here (see the Survival Guide for the forum). Perhaps you should file a report for that: [Tutorial] Reporting bugs or suggestions.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.

thank hagar
I think you right .
i try to use registry key to solve this problem without install/uninstall progress.
And yep it go the same way as i install program.(First and next pattern)
but it's not solve anything if i want to user OpenOffice over sharepoint server.
coz if i apply registry so default files type are Microsoft Office. go back to the source of the problem again huh.
Maybe sharepoint is not support Openoffice at all (Of course it's MS product anyway) so it's maybe not a bug

i'm now looking for the way to solve this .
any suggestion ?
