How to fit print to paper?

Post by svenopia »

I can print on A3 and A4 paper. If the document is A4, how do I scale to fit the A3 paper?

Use /File /Print Preview and change the scale factor to 138% (or whatever scale you require). In /File /Print there should be a Properties button; on the Paper tab change the printing paper size and orientation to your choice, also the Paper tray setting.

Change the page size in the page Style that you are using. Hit F11 to call up the Sylist if you do not have it open, click on the fourth icon from the left. The page Stye you are using should be highlighted. Right-click and choose Modify. Click on the page tab and select the paper size you want.

Check below that to see if you want to keep the margins as set.

You may have to check the printer settings as well.

Good luck

I can scale when the document is .ods (from Open Office Calc), but when the document is .odt (Writer) the option is not avalible. I have not tried any other document types.

I tried this, but i works only when I start a new document. With the existing document the content will appear in the left top part of the A3 paper (if original was A4)

I use Windows 7 64 PRO, Open Office 4.1.1 Swedish and my printer is Brother MFC-6490CW
The attached file is a screenshot viewing how it looks in Writer, in Calc there is a scale option.

Try /File /Page Preview and change the scaling factor in that window.

The screenshot is my File/Print panel, there is no scaling factor. In Preview there is no panel for settings at all, only meny and toolbar. And I have not found any scale option, but zoom-tool, which only change the screen view, no effect on print. :?

Open the /File menu. At the bottom is Exit. Immediately above it is a group of three items - from the bottom Printer settings, above that Print, and above that Page Preview. Open the Page Preview and adjust the scaling factor on it. I cannot, for various technical reasons, do a screenshot to show this.

There is no option for scaling in Page preview window, I can change the size on screen with the zoom, but it have no effect when I print. If I change the paper size in my printers options, the preview shows my document in size A4 in the middle of a "paper" measuring 297 x 420 mm, the text and pictures on the document is still in size A4. And will be printed this way, a lot of white space around the original document. BUT when I have a document created in Calc there is an option in Print Preview for changing scale factor. I will take screenshots and post in a few minutes....
