Downloading problem

Post by cosmo »

Welcome beginner. Please answer all of the questions below which may provide information necessary to answer your question.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using? 2.4.1

What Operating System (version) are you using? Windows XP

What is your question or comment? I would like to know if there is a better way to download OpenOffice. I am using dialup. My speed is 52 kbs which I believe is very good for dialup. However, each time I attempt to download the connection is lost and I have to start over. I have tried 4 times. The last time I tried to download this program, I got as far as 35% completed and then lost the connection.

Downloading 127 MB is going to require a lot of time using dialup. I was wondering if using FTP would be better. I don't know much about FTP. I just read something about using it if I had difficulty downloading.

What are your suggestions, please?

thanks

FTP won't be much help. It might be better to order the CD at http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdro ... html#cdrom. There will be charge for this.

Or just ask a friend having a broadband access to download it and put it on a jumpdrive. Or there are the magazines also that often offer CDs with OOo.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.
